Here Are Some Canadian Pennies I Dug Out Of My Grandfathers Collection. I Dont Know A Thing About Canadian Coins. I Only Know German Coins And Thats It. Do You Guys Have Any Idea What This Is Worth As A Lot? Im Thinking About Selling Them, Not Sure Yet. Thanks.
There aren't many dates that are scarce in Canadian small 1c. coins, but I am sure that someone with a Charlton catalogue can give you the prices for Canadian small 1c. coins, which have been issued since 1920. Aidan.
Looks like mostly QEII in there, with a few Geo VI. Look for the 1953 and 1955. 1953 with shoulder fold is worth a small increase, $2 in F-12 according to a 2003 Haxby 1955 with no shoulder fold is worth $150 in F-12, $250 in VF-20 according to the Haxby Otherwise, they're not worth a whole lot, although the Geo VI's are like finding a wheat cent in the US. (There are a 4 varieties of 1965 and two of 1985, of which one of each is worth a premium, but really only in UNC condition). Hope this helps.
A VF-20 is worth about .50 cents U.S. The 1923 and the 1925 are the early keys in this set. There is also a 1936 with a small dot below the date that is rare.
a collector once told me they aren't worth much unless you collect them in a series. Then he gave me a 1938 to start me off. I have all dates now with the exception of 2007 which the mint has yet to release. Hey...whats the penny in your last picture..first full coin on the bottom left?
Keep your eyes peeled. I got my 2007 with the new mintmark at Walmart this week. (Well, they gave it to me in change.)
Topher,do they have Walmarts in Canada? I thought it was solely an American chain. Can you please post photos of the 2007 Canadian 1c. with the new mintmark? Aidan.
Aidan - no problem. I'll get the scanner of camera after breakfast and post a pic. I've also got quarters with the new logo, but I still need to get my hands on a nickel and a dime. And yes -Walmart is here too. Oddly enough, when I lived in Australia, "Big W" reminded me of Walmart as their signage and adverts were very similar.
Aidan - for the life of me, I can't get the scanner to work properly, and the camera's rechargeable batteries are dead right now. Don (at worldcoingallery) has got a picture of a 2006 penny with the new mintmark. This will have to do for now: http://worldcoingallery.com/countri...=Canada new 1 Cent (2006) maple leaf mintmark And contrary to what some people think, it's not an "M" or and "R" or whatever else they've made up. It's actually the logo of the Canadian Mint, and it seems as if these will be going on all new coinage.
I've got at least one. I didn't realize they were mistakes. I'd better check my pocket change again, just in case.
I've had no trouble finding the 2006 no "P" nickels so far, and I've only gone through 4 rolls. Got about 2 per roll. How sure are we that these really were a mistake?
Topher,if you are convinced that you've found a Canadian coin that isn't listed in Krause, you should send an email with photos to Tom Michael at Tom.Michael@fwpubs.com . Aidan.
I only have a 2005 Krause, so they don't even list the 2004's in it. I'll head to the library where they have the newest issue and make sure before I email. I managed to find about a dozen 2006 no-P nickels, most of them in the first 4 rolls.
