In fact, Wahballath is not only laureate. He is laureate and diademed. On well preserved specimens, it is conspicuous. His titles, VCRIMDR, stand for Vir Consularis (= governor of the province of Syria), Rex (king, because he claimed kingship of the Parthians, his father Odenathus having rallied the Parthians who opposed Shapur I's regime...), IMperator (elected by the legions) Dux Romanorum (Duke of the Romans : commander of all Roman forces in the East). The laurel wreath is for Imperator The diadem is for King I think Wahballath is the only person on ancient coinage to be simultaneously laureate and diademed.
