Any coin collectors or club members in the Sacramento area? I'm looking for some help grading some peace dollars, and really would like "sound" advise vs. "money" advise on some 1924-S and 1927 S/D's that I have. I'm working towards completing my MS64 grade NGC Peace Dollar set (currently my 1 per date is ranked #2 on NGC's competitive registry). I'm looking to help get some grading done so I can see what is worth sending to a TPG and then using them to horse trade for exactly what I want. And heaven forbid - I think one of the 1927's may grade a 63/64 - but I need some help. Thanks in advance, feel free to write!
I'm in the area, but I have no idea about grading US coins I've met Tim from Folsom Coins & Currency a few times, he seems like a real nice chap (East Bidwell in Folsom) if you're looking for a local dealer.
Thanks, I'm not looking for dealers. The last 2 dealers in the area (won't name them) offered me $70 for an uncirculated 1905-P Barber Half, and $45 for a 1888-S that was "fair condition" according to his expertise - that just came back from ANACS as an MS63. Funny thing was I never asked either for an offer, just to confirm the my grading estimates. Hard to try and build trust when the first thing they try to do is lie to your face and lowball you.
I will make a point to check it out in July. I'm getting married this coming weekend (nerves!) and then 2 weeks on honeymoon! Maybe we can "newbie" together
You might want to come out to the Bay Area and check out the coin shows. Large number of dealers to check out.
