i just bought the 2007 proof ase of the mint and was wondering if this years mintages will be as low as last years and im also kinda worried about if the coin will go down in price or not. also if you guys could tell me your satisfaction level on the ase proof coin and the shipping time from the mint it would be greatly appericated.

P.s the 2007 proof ase was on the coin vault for $60!!!! when you could buy it on the mints website for $29 dollars!!! what are they thinking!!!

    thanks ,bob

Apparently some poor schmoes are buying them. Sad, but true. They also had the 2006 W Uncirculated Silver Eagles, ungraded, for $149. I only watch and laugh. As for those coins going down in price, it's doubtful, although at the price you pay for them, even if they did go down, it wouldn't likely be much. It's a gamble you take with coin collecting, but I'd feel pretty safe buying those coins.

The 2007 should be a great coin, and the mint makes them almost perfect. Enjoy a great coin.

I was talking about the dopes buying them off of the coin vault. I like these coins, and I was just looking at the NGC population reports on the silver eagles. You have a very good chance of getting MS69 on these coins. They have been consistantly very well made, and are beautiful coins.

dose the new rules for mintages go for the ase proofs?

Nope. No limit to how many they will make, it will all depend on demand.

I bought a few of the 2007 proofs just for old times sake. They are beautiful, the shine is incredible.

Last years mintage was low??? I admit I don't follow those things bu I know they normally sell between 750,000 and a million of them, and I know they were on sale for some time before they sold another 250,000 of them in the 20th anniversary set. I would have expected at least a normal mintage if not a high one.

It's hard to say, no one has said what last years mintage was. I tried checking the Mint site again but that was no use, they've pulled all the silver, gold, and platinum eagle mintage figures that used to be there. Best you could do would be to pull up themint reports but they have none for the past two years. Redbooks no help. They have no data on silver proofs after 1999. (2006 edition) I swear getting accurate information out of the Mint is like pulling teeth.

The numbers I have are the 2006 Proof Silver eagle sold 848,000 individual coins plus the 250,000 in the 3 coin anniversary sets for a total of 1,098,000 coins.

The 2007 proof silver eagles has so far sold 273,811 coins with no limit.

    What's a single proof number?

So the 2006 sold 1.1 million proofs. I think that gives it the HIGHEST mintage since 1986.
From Redbook after 1986 through 1999 the highest mintage was 1989-S 617,694. After 1999 mintages were (Figures from Mnt website, finally found them)
    2000 600,743
    2001 746,398
    2002 647,342
    2003 747,831
    2004 801,602 first year it wasn't a sell out, authorized was 850,000
2005 816,663 There doesn't appear to have been a mintage limit this year
2006 1.100,000 Appaerently a limit of 850,000 on the singles, 250,000 on the Ann sets.

I failed to follw the conversation then. As i understood it we had 2 proof coin options from the mint last year. You could buy the single proof or the anniversity set. You are talking about three types.

This is from the mint site
Priced at $29.95 each, the 2007 American Eagle Silver Proof Coins will not have a pre-determined mintage, as the United States Mint will produce these coins to meet demand. The American Eagle Silver Coins are minted at the United States Mint at West Point, with the "W" mint mark.

If they made 1,100,000 last year you will be looking at least 2 million this year.

You can spend the money on 2 or 3 Silver Ikes with a mintage of less then a million
    Just a idea:eek:

I think you did misunderstand Ruben. ND is saying that the 848,000 number is incorrect - that you need to add 2,000 more to it to have the correct number of coins sold as individual Proofs for a total of 850,000. That's the single Proof number. But since there were an additional 250,000 coins sold as part of the Anniversary set - the total mintage for the '06 ASE Proof was 1,100,000.
