Yesterday as I waited for my breakfast to be prepared, I found myself peering into the cashier counter Tip Jar! The cashier asked me if everything was ok. Startled, I apologized then explained what I was doing. For years I have been mezmorized by those coins and bills just laying on the bottom of these jars. Looking to catch a glimpse of a rare coin such as an error or variety. An old US coin, silver or even a world coin. A star note or a fancy numeral! Does anyone else do the same?
Looking at a tip jar is like looking at the sun. You don't stare at it. It's too risky. You get a sense of it and then you look away.
Never look at it, always felt the employees would think I'm sizing it for theft. However, I do look at the old "give a penny, take a penny" thingy....cherrypicked a few coins in my life from that.
