Here is a coin I got with part of my birthday money. I had one of these once before in trade when I first started out but it was so worn that unloaded it quickly. This one at least has some meat left on it. Tried getting better pics but wasn't happening. CELTIC, Lower Danube, Uncertain tribe. 2nd century B.C. AR Drachm Imitating Philip III of Macedon O: Head of Herakles wearing lionskin headdress knotted at throat, right. R: Zeus enthroned holding eagle. 17mm 3.42g Lanz 939; CCCBM I 203-4
The previous one I had just had an outline of the face and nothing for the reverse, lol. Only weighed 2g too.
Very nice example Mat !!!! ------I'm now trying to get a 'distinctive bust' (as JA noted) for myself....
I'm afraid your attribution may be a bit off. Your coin is from much further west, Itri. Also, you have incorrectly oriented the reverse. CELTIC, Itri tribe AR drachm Obv: head of Medusa right Rev: ITPI; headless body of Medusa facing, waving left hand, giving a shout out to Keto; HI M[OM]; decapitated head lower right field; harpa in left field Ref: SNG Tiffily 201. Exceedingly rare.
LOL! that's exactly what i thought looking at the reverse! its' a very cool coin GG, in interesting imitiavite piece for sure.
