Now here's one that made the cover of the Cherry Pickers Guide ...but it's not in the book! an 1847 /7 U.S. Large Cent. Not only an over date but a repunched date also!
please see images as the 1 has been repunched as also the 4 ,however the 7 is and large 7 over a smaller one. You'll notice the ears of the secondary 7 above the primary seven.

 

I've had that for years before I sent it in, I have no idea where or when I got it.
I only sent them in because ANACS was having a special on
Lincoln cents

 

Ok. I sold one in same grade to a member a few years ago already graded. So can't be the same if you had it graded.

 

It was graded February of this year

Quarter with clash from the Flying Eagle cent.

 

Here's an 1831 Large Letters small capped bust quarter B-5 variety with a repunched date.



When adding the date to the obverse die the 1 punch intended for a smaller denomination was mistakenly used and the 1s had to be re-punched creating this interesting dual 1/1 overdate. In this closeup you can see the evidence of both original smaller 1s.

Discovery Coin: IDDDO-1 74D New IDDDR-MH/MD-DDR IDDP-1

Cross Reference: None Known.

Class: Obverse Class II Tripled. Reverse Master Hub/Master Die.

Description: Class II tripling seen on many letters of IN GOD WE TRUST. Wide split serifs and doubling seen on the rest of the letters. Wide but mushy spread on the upper left serif of the 1. Tripling on the 7. CCW spread on the T and Y of LIBERTY. (Earlier die stage/die state may show a small CCW spread on all of LIBERTY)

Reverse Description: Master hub/ Master die DDR.

Marker: Obverse Full R in LIBERTY. Eye pocket die scratches. Scratch to the left of thee last T of TRUST running SW/NE. Die scratch to the left of the R of LIBERTY running SW/NE. Die crack starting at the rim to the left of the one in date meandering onto the one, continuing NE through the 9 and 7 ending at the 4 in date. Reverse: Type 3. Dot sized die gouge inside and to the upper right of the O in DOLLAR.

Date Recorded: 12/5/2013, CD.

Population: 1.


Comments: Obverse Stage B, has been abraded due to cracking on the die (Serfice crack at the base of the one in date). Mr Stachowski has the honor of being the first collector to send in the first tripled working die (TDO) for the 1974 D minted coin.

I have the same variety. It's the only bust half I own, was my grandfather's, and was the first variety that I discovered I had. I wish it wasn't cleaned or scratched on the reverse, but it still holds a place in my heart considering it was "Daddy Charles' coin"!

 

I have an 1812 bust half my father gave me at age 7.
