    Today I thought it would be fun to have the members here post their favorites varieties.
    This should make for a nice album thread for others to experience what they are missing,in the world of the variety collector. Try and post some super rare varieties, as well as very clear images so those whom are not familiar with the variety can truly understand what collecting varieties is all about.
    Please include the variety numbers as well as a brief description of the variety you have posted. I do realize that some may not have been listed or are new and this information may not yet be available. You may also want to list the PUP's so others can focus on the variety. Let see some amazing coins!

    My first coin is an 1900 Morgan Silver Dollar. It's an FS-S1-1900-016 a DDR the pick up point is the olive branch on the reverse. The double olive. 1900 Morgan Dollar DDR.jpg 1900 DDR Double olive rev.-crop.jpg 1900 DDR Double olive rev.-crop.jpg

    The next coin is an 1819/8 Bust Half Dollar. You will notice that the date is the pick up point. this coin is a RPD as well as an over date coin. The first 8 is been repunched upside down, you'll also notice that there is an 8 under the 9 last number of the date. 1819-8 Bust half dollar.jpg 1819-8 BHD date.jpg 1819-8 Bust Half dollar date-crop.jpg 1819-8 BHD date.jpg

    Another over date is this one an 1818/7 Bust Half. You'll notice how the 7 looks like devil horns on the top loop of the 8. 1818-7 Bust Half.jpg 1818-7 date-crop.jpg

    Here's another Bust Half that has an error. The error can be found on the third surface yes the edge. The edges of a Bust Half was lettered to read " Fifty Cents Or Half A Dollar. the edge also contained some reeding of sorts and stars this was called the an" Adopted edge" between 1830-1836. you'll notice on this coin studying the images closely the edge reads" Fifty Cents HOAR L F S A * DOLLAR" Make sure you always check the 3rd surface of an Bust Half you may find a surprise! 1836 Bust Half Dollar Edge lettering.jpg 1836 BHD edge A.jpg 1836 BHD edge cents.jpg 1836 BHD edge dollar.jpg 1836 BHD Edge Star.jpg 1836 BHD HOARLFS.jpg

    Next How about an 1876 Seated Liberty Quarter with misplaced dates. SLQ's are known for having MPD's in the denticles. Make sure if you ever in the market for one to check those denticles. The most common for MPD's is the 1876 date however I have cherry picked other dates in the past. 1876 SLQ XF 45.jpg 1876 date 2 crop.jpg

    Here's another favorite an 1862/1 U.S. Three cent Piece. Again an over date Listed as FS-3S-1862-301 (007) The secondary 1 is clearly visible under the two in the date. What makes this variety so interesting to me is that yes it's a Civil War era coin, the variety was found some 99 years later in 1963! Mintage of the 1862 3 cent pc. was only 343,550. There's also an 1863/2 known to exist.
    this over date was believed to be caused by the Civil War Economy ,as the US Mint had to use a good die another year, than to produce an error coin. 1862-1 U.S. Three cent Piece.jpg 1862-1 US Three Cent Pc. date.jpg

    @Paddy54 FYI:
    The edge errors are very common.
    The scarcer ones are those with doubled edge lettering, where the planchet went thru the Castaing machine 2X.
    I have two of those.
