This is to the moderator, all joking aside. This has been a very long thread and we're all waiting to hear this info about the fake coin. I PMed the OP. No response. Is he ever going to tell us the diagnostic of this coin? He's not protecting the hobby. He's just doing more harm than good. I have no intentions to be or am a Chinese spy. So I'm pretty safe. I think the info would be okay if I heard it. What are your thoughts on this? Let us know.

Give the Op a chance to reply , he does have a family and works at his shop all day . I PMed him to and am waiting .
3-D printing is a waste of time for me at least as it's nowhere ready to make a convincing fake . Maybe a new thread on the tells of these fakes . If the Chinese are waiting on our every word in order to produce a better fake . I wonder with all the good books around with details of die marriages , why there hasn't been a flood of rare Overtons or Large cents being made . Just a thought for those who believe withholding information really damages them more than us not knowing .

We all are giving Op a chance to reply. As for withholding information really damages yes you should know. As for the Large cents how do you know ?

The OP presented a coin as a dangerous new Chinese fake.
Later in this thread, the authenticity of the coin was brought into question. I believe the coin is genuine. There are questions about who actually viewed the coin in person and declared it a fake. There are questions about the supposed "tells" that the coin is fake.

The original poster has not appeared in this thread (or in any CoinTalk thread) in more than three weeks. When and if they decide to post here again I will be interested to read what they have to say.

I think the 3-D printer talk is a valid tangent since it is about a technology that could potentially be applied to counterfeiting.

I still say that the OP thinks everyone is an idiot. The moderator should have shut this thread down the moment he refused to give the diagnostics. Anything from lasers to lathe is potential for counterfeiting but that's not what this post is about.

But don't you think that 3-D printing is years away in making a convincing proof .

Well since I really don't collect Large cents , I wouldn't know . I do collect Bust halves by Die Marriages and there doesn't seem to be any influx of coins on the market , rather the prices are rising fairly well . Also I would think any of the rarer marriages like R-7 or R-8s where there's only 12 known , any new coins would show up fairly easily . But you're right I really don't know .

As for rare Die Marriages where there's only 12 known do you think the Chinese can pass and make any money from them it would be better 1934 Quarter were you could sell thousands

I don't think 3-D printing will ever be able to produce a convincing fake. That is, unless or until a Star Trek "replicator" device can assemble an object ATOM BY ATOM, and construct all the proper molecular bonds while doing so.

Then I sure wouldn't take a chance with no or lousy pics . There's plenty of honest dealers out there that have inter net stores , and plenty honest ebay dealers with good pics .
