1794 Liberty Cap Bust Cent: opinions grade/variety please

    I'm more familiar with late dates, but I just pulled out my copy of the grading guide for EAC. Sharpness is vf 30, all major design details are sharp with least 3/4 hair detail. Seems reasonable, although I could see an arguement for vf25. I would net to 15 for porisity and rim ding, maybe 12 as its in a focal area. I could see 30 net 15, down to 25 net 10.

    Nice coin, and looks like an s21. I don't find that kind of corrosion that distracting, hope it's that nice in hand!

    Both are heads of 94. The OP coin is S-21 the first head of 94 variety, and Kentucky's is an S-55 from later in the year but still not a head of 95. The heads of 95 start at I believe S-68.

    Coin arrived in the mail today. It look sooooo much better in person! I'm very happy with this purchase!

    I agree - your pictures makes the surfaces look more solid. Still showing corrosion damage, but it certainly looks better. Nice pickup.
