Possible doubling of the date? I know that the pictures are not too good, but I tried my best. I noticed that the 9 has a second tail and it looks like there is another 8 just to the southeast of the original 8. Let me know what you guys think.

    Thanks,
    Ben

The pictures are great. It looks like Doubling but it is not Doubled Die related. I have seen an article related to this type of occurrence and I'm trying to find it. Something to do with a plating issue.

If you could find it, I'd love to read it! Would a coin of this nature be worth any value or is it quite common among these dates?

Often called "shadow doubling" or "ghost doubling" - due to Die Wear

These are really neat when they're that apparent, Ben. I love the near-complete shadow under the 8. Good pictures illustrating this, and good question. Paddyman98, good answer to the good question.
