Hey all, I just wanted to get some input from you all... After purchasing several bank rolls from Florida ebay sellers, I finally stumbled onto a smooth edge, missing inscription dollar... The coin is in overall great condition, a virtually flawless reverse (grading the reverse I'd say a high ms67 low ms 68) however I have very little experience with how a grading company will (such as NGC, my intended grader) will grade it based on some contact / bag marks on the obverse.... Personally all the coins I have ever sent in were only examples I thought were were high grade ms67 or or better.. Its all I've ever bothered with, bag marks are a turn off for me and usually returned to circulation... However this is a case where I feel authentication of the coin is a must based on the amount of fraud involved with people modifying them, however is this a coin that would just be body baggged as ungradeable based on damage? Just looking for others opinions on what a top grader would say about it... Estimated grade?? Ms62 ms 63?? higher?? Lower?? Like I said, I've don't know how they handle the bag marks as I've never sent a coin with bag marks in before.... Anyway... Picture will follow soon to help with grading.
Look Look at above GW's eyebrow, his cheeks and the indent next to the W in washington.... Those are the major problem areas... I didn't post any pics of the reverse as the reverse is near flawless with only a couple light hairlines and no bag marks or scratches. Anyway.. I do appreciate the input if you have any.
that's pretty cool Dak! I don't know anything about grading; but I hope you find it's a score! has anyone heard or seen a of a double edge gown strike? How about a die break errors between the 2nd $ 3rd fold in the Lady's gown?
congrats on the find,i have had several of these graded at ngc,i think the best you can exspect on this is a ms63-4........the large mark on the collar at about 5:00 could even get it bodybagged, great find no matter what!
Cool! I think ANACS pop report still says ONE ms-67 graded. I'd look now, but it says "unexpected error" . I'm saving a pile to send for grading and one has an extremely thick surface coating.. almost like it was coated twice. It makes it look very nice but removes alot of the sharpness on the edges (releif?) I have 2 back from ANACS that received a 65, and one 64.
