hey guys, i was garage saleing the other dya and got this... i dont think its worth alot, but was wondering the genral price range. and also theres 5 coins... im assuming that there p,d,s reguler strike and 2 s mint proof.. in the s mints.. how do i tell the proof clad , proof silver, and the regular silver?? as far as grade close up.. the reg. p&d nothin special mybe 63.. the s mints look nice .. maybe 65 ?
Wow, they are very nice! The way to tell if they are silver is to look at their sides if you can. Silver will have a gray/white side, and copper will have more of a reddish side. But they are very nice looking. :thumb: How much did you pay if you don't mind me asking? Phoenix
i paid 5 bucks... and ya i know if i look at the side i can tell.. but there in holders that are seald... i dont rally wana bust them just to do that.. i did notice that the 2 that are more proof looking.. one is silverish and more cameo, and the other is a goldish tone?? i figured out the s mint silver reg its more of that busness strike look. i know i dont have a 70 in the box... but i cant find the set on the internet to guess at a worth??? thanks guys mark

there was an estate sale up the road from me about a year ago. they had old coins everywhere for sale! i bought as much as i could, untill i ran out of money. they had about 25 rolls of pre 1960 jefferson nickels. i bought 3 rolls! i can't believe that! i wish i would have had more money! i also got about 6-7 rolls of wheat cents. i wish i would have bought them all. anyway, the good part is that i got about 10 war nickels in the rolls! i paid $4 i think for the rolls. there were only common date nickels, but they had a mix or war nickels. i wish i could go back in time and buy them all!
its says the morgan mint.... and yes i already looked over there site... scowered google for 1976 quarter set 5 cion" nothing??? i figure from the pcgs coin value .. the p&d at 60 are worth 8$ ... the silver reg strike s mint is "its got some noticble scraces at 30x so i give it a 65-67.. value=40 hey pcgs can do it >LOL< the proofs are about the same a few small scraces at 30x nothing visable to eye... so 66 for them since of there proof.. worth ? 30 for both... total coin value=78..??? but thats just coin.. not coin and case?? hell id sell the set for 50. sounds fair edited to conform to forum rules any ways... let me know what you all think.. i wont be like the duoble sided "no picture" penny guy... These have a pretty nominal value at the wholesale level in typical condition. In all probability this is a complete type set of the two silver coins (unc and PR), clad PR, and the two circulating issues (P&D). The 40% PR is the most expensive coin and wholesales around $2.25. Gems and varieties can sell for far more.

By nominal wholesae value I mean 40c each for the P & D. $1.50 for the 40% unc and 50c for the clad PR. I was mistaken about the 40% PR. It's actually closer to $1.60. The set would wholesale at about $4.40 unless there is a high grade coin in the set. These normally retail at $10 and up so you got a good deal on it.

I dont really have any intentions of selling .. my woman loves collecting quarters. you awnsered my question. i didnt think it was actually worth more than 20 bucks... I prefer to look down, you find more that way. All kidding aside, though, I think cladking nailed this one. You ask a question in these forums, with this level of experience and expertise, and ya gotsta expect to be let down every now and then. We've all been. But that's how we learn.
ya .. actually thats about all i figured it worth 20 bucks.. im in no way let down ... i said i didnt trhink it was worth a bundel..?? LOL the biggest thing to me was my woman looked at them as if they were gold... she isint into grade the same as i am... she likes them as they are and she dosent even worry about any of that.. " i dont understand that sometimes" but shes worth all the gold in the mints!! ps eddiespin... i threw that in "keep looking up" because i am also an Amateur astronomer.. and in revalance to "jack horkhimer.. keep looking up" its another very strange hobby..LOL clear skies mark
Hey, there's always a chance that there's a spectacular gem or a variety in the set. Don't get your hopes up but the DDO '76-D goes for about $1200 in unc and the '76-P goes for $2000 in MS-68. I could even be wrong about which coins are in the set and there were a few '76-P Proofs made. This would go for something like $30,000 proba- bly. Even spectacular proofs often bring hundreds of dollars and rarely even more. And it's the amateur astronomers who usually make the big finds now days.
