Die clash. I can also see clashing around E and P in your closeup picture. Have a picture of the reverse?

Looks like it has been cleaned at one time too, but still nice clash. may try to look it up.

Looks like a treble hook. You could give this a unique name, "the fisherman's Morgan".

Looking at the clash, I think the only thing it could be is part of the wings. This can't be the only one???

I don't think it's a clash, as that's a deep part of the die. For a clash to show there and not leave anything in the field doesn't make any sense. It would've had to have been a very strong clashing of the dies, as both the profile on the obverse die and the eagle on the reverse die are deep in those dies. For that reason, they can impress the fields, but, that's about it. No, I don't think that's a clash. I don't know what it is.

It's rounded like part of the feathers???

But Hoosier, the feathers are sunken in the reverse die, and the profile is sunken in the obverse die. If the dies came together how does the sunken feathers impress into the sunken profile without leaving so much as even a trace in the raised fields? That thing is something else, it's not a clash.

I'm just looking for anything that matches. I think there is a die gouge near the "eye" as well or lamination peel???

The feathers are not opposite the eye on the reverse. It can't be feathers. Pay no attention to the red circles. This is just the first overlay I ran into.

I was looking at other possible rotation overlays. I am new at this and trying to learn as I go. THANKS!

First thought was a misplaced "8" like on some Snow Indian Head cent.

That looks like a small lamination underneath it. I wonder if it could be a struck-through in the planchet. Where's Mike Diamond when we need him? :D

Sometimes the clash is partially removed by polishing.

Post mint damage. The coin was struck by another object pushing the metal up in that spot.
