If you're scoping out your odds of breaking us up, I'd say "don't waste your time".

I know, right? But I have to say that I've been a lot more susceptible than usual this morning to passing squirrels...

Lol. Nope, not a junkie or abuser. While yes, one use of Klonopin is to escape from a long term Xanax addiction, it's actually not so much due to it's benefits as a half-way drug (think Methadone), it's actually more because Klonopin is a much safer alternative to withdrawal off of due to it's much longer half life and lower chance of inducing withdrawal seizures for that very reason. Longer acting drugs are just much easier to quit than short acting drugs because it takes longer for them to leave your system, hence allowing you to take longer to acclimate and get use to the lower level of drugs in your system.

But that's not even why i take K-Pins. I take them because i have severe situational anxiety, type 1 Diabetes (with a phobia of needles), restless leg syndrome, insomnia, and severe and random panic attacks in situations that shouldn't normally cause them (phones, doctors offices, etc). K-Pins are the more feasible solution to random panic attacks though because they do last a full 12 hours compared to the 4-5 of Xanax. They're also helping me withdrawal off of my Remeron, an antidepressant with harder withdrawal symptoms than any of the scheduled medications i've ever taken before.

Lmao. Nice responses there. Thank you for being the only one here who apparently knows there are uses to scheduled medications other than abuse.

I like to think that there's only one here who doesn't know that, and that he was just in a talkative mood yesterday.

Glad you've found an effective remedy. I'm sorry for the garbage that you have to field from the uninformed.

If people knew how bad they were getting the shaft when they go to sell to some people....

You're a little late to the game on this one, Sully. This isn't to say that some isn't still out there as there clearly is, but the days of placing a free add, doing a little work, and reaping decent rewards are, for the most part, over. 2008-09 was a prime time to start, and through 2011 it offered great opportunity as long as one used their head, knew what they were doing, and had a little patience, but since then, and oddly enough after metals started their fall, it is mostly a suckers game. Every get rich quick schmo places or scans ads hoping to find that rip, or that newbie who only think he knows what he's doing; it is like jumping into a chum-filled shark tank at times, so unless doing it for fun, I would suggest not wasting one's time. Of course not all areas will mirror my own, but don't think this idea is anything new; it's old and has gotten old in many, many ways.

@jeffB - Soooooooo, yeah. I guess that pretty much sums up what I said.

I am curious, why do people feel the need to "defend" others (I quote the word 'defend' because, well, I mean, come on, defend? really?) on this forum? I guess everyone wants to be a hero....

You mentioned garage sales but let me add estate sales. Since some weeks I try to join some sales for weekend fun. It's a lot of fun and you can find wrong priced or false determined silver. Estate sale drawbacks: you have to get up very early, you have to deal with the rudeness of the other visitors, and you have to accept that many organizers don't have a clue about the stuff they offer.

Recently, I bought 3 "silver plates" for fun and a fistful of change. I knew that there was no silver to find in this plates. But the very experienced ladies and so-called experts guaranteed that these plates passed 3 silver tests. Kidding? I took them to gold buyer with XRF Analyzer - nothing! Not even plated!

But in general, I don't want to badmouth estate sales - I join them and it's fun. And I got some nice stuff in about 4 or 5 weeks:

    • a 10 karat gold ring for 5 bucks > worth about $55
    • a 925 silver ladle for 10 bucks > worth about $80
    • some sterling spoons for 30 bucks > worth about $100
    • gold remains (closer, broken pins) for 10 bucks > worth about $60
I think it's not possible to make a living but you can get nice finds there. Besides silver and gold, I found collectibles like a nice oil painting, a lamp and an antique table. Moreover, I'm a proud owner of a used safe for $50 - retail was $700. The safe is covered with scratches but I don't care about that.

I found a good source about how estate sales work.

Let me add some impression for you:

Walk or jog around parking lots and look for dropped earrings. I found one once.

My wife usually finds 1 or 2 silver coins each day at work when she helps count change at the local newspaper, but that is looking thru $3500-$4000 of change. Three weeks ago she found a 1902 Barber quarter in Fine condition. Last year, an 1894 Indian Head cent in a roll was the oldest coin she has found. Any tokens or foreign coins are freebies for the taking. When my daughter worked at the Dairy Queen (12 years ago) she would bring home $2 or $3 face of silver nearly every week (likely kids raiding dad's desk). Make friends with folks doing business with kids, bank tellers, etc. to watch for you. I've bought change from folks that were just going to take it to the bank, and have had some limited success at finding silver there. I buy some silver from my local coin shop, and some of the groups of 40% halves contain a couple of 90% ones. Getting silver at face can be done, but you won't find a lot of it. My best success has been buying boxes ($500 face) of halves, but the last box was a complete bust.
