Hi everyone. I am brand new to the forum and a beginner collector just getting back into the hobby. I figured it would be fun to play the grade game before I send my first coin in to be graded with PCGS (Or maybe your collective expertise will change my mind about sending it in...). I bought this guy about 6-8 years ago and have been meaning to send it in to get graded. To my untrained eye it looks to have excellent luster, a sharp strike, and relatively few marks apart from the nick to the upper right of the eagle's breast. The pictures make it look worse than it does in person but I'm not an expert photographer either. I'd love to hear your thoughts. I'll be playing along too as I don't know what the grade is either!
I'd say MS63/64ish but it's hard to see the things that will give it those extra points from a photo.
It may just be me but in person most of the "marks" that you see on the picture are not visible even under magnification. I'm not concerned about the grading cost and if it turns out to be a dud then I'm okay with that. There's just something about it that makes me optimistic. I'm probably naïve but its a fun experiment!
