Here is a beaten up 1895 Silver Shilling. I picked this coin up for a $3.50 in the junk box at the dealer in town some time ago. I don't know much about the series, but like I've posted in the past. British coins, they're all part of me... :)

Thanks for sharing. I like this design very much.
Depicted are the heraldic shields of England, Scotland and Ireland, together with the English rose, the Scottish thistle and the Irish clover. The whole design is put over the motto "Honi soit qui mal y pense", which is the motto of the most noble Order of the Garter.

    Beatiful, beatiful...

    Ben:

I've been following your posts today both here and elsewhere. They've been most interesting and informative, keep 'em coming! I always check the W&AC Forum as it is, in my opinion, the more educational and scholarly of the forums.

Ben,keep those British & British Commonwealth coin photos coming! That British 1895 1/- isn't too bad.It is better than a munted coin, that's for sure.

    Decent 1895 shilling.
Spink catalougue prices for F= £5.....

I would give that coin £3 or £4, although the reverse is clear, the obverse is just too nicked etc.

    Nice bargain anyway !
