It looks like PMD. Because of the way the edge looks to be shaped, I would normally suggest that it had been "spooned", but in this case, with the unusual loss of detail on the obverse and reverse devices, I'm leaning toward this being a dryer coin.

Oftentimes you will see a coin with the edge flattened as in your photo. This is accomplished by continually hitting the edge with the bottom of a spoon.

Hi BonnieSue.. You mean the 1953 Half Dollar. Either the person who posted the picture thinks it's an error. Or the website showing the spooned coin is giving an example of errors vs non-errors.

 

OH! That makes more sense to me now... I blame BEER..LOL

 

I was looking at #4- nickel and wrote down #2- half..LOL sorry
