The solvent won't work any better than the soap and water. That cloudiness is damage to the plastic where the WD40 softened and partially dissolved it. Since you have ruined your shot at returning the coin, your choices are:
    • Live with a cloudy slab
    • submit it to PCGS for reslabbing, or.
    • Sell it to someone willing to deal with the cloudy slab.

    Roy,
So you CAN re-submit a coin to a TPGer to get a new "slab"? I have a NGC graded coin that has scratches and gouge marks all over it. So I can send it back to NGC to get a new slab? Do you have any idea how much that would cost? Does the TPGer charge more if the slabbed coin is graded higher? Thanking you in advance for your answer.

I know that the TPGs do reholder, but since I don't use their services I can't help you regarding price, etc. I understand that a straight reholdering fee is relatively low, but that if you ask them to check the grade, it will require payment of a full grading fee.

    Good luck.

Many hard plastics can be cleared by buffing. If you have a bufing wheel of some type, prior to spending any more money on solvents that may or may not work, be expensive, gas money to go get them, try a buffing wheel. However, remember it is plastic, not metal. Try very lightly with a CLEAN buffing wheel. Nothing more to loose and the cheapest method.

2-3 times a year I put all my slabs through a cycle or two in the Dishwasher....

    J/P....

If the coin was something I was really concerned about and worth 3 or 4 times the reholder fee, I'd prolly go that route....

Please be more specific. At what settings do you use? Hot, warm or cold water? Is it a front or top loader? Are detergents used and what brand? Any bleach? What is the maximum amount of slabs per load? :goofer: :goofer:

PCGS will re-holder a coin for $5. I guess I'd just send it to them & get a new slab.

No, no, you got it all wrong. You must use tomato juice mixed with a little vinegar and baby oil to get ride of it.

Well,Its a Front loader, and normally I use Warm Water, it takes to long for those little Slabs to unfog, if I use HOT....

As for detergent, if I'm doing some other dishes at the same time, I'll use those little packets made for dishwasers that disolve in water, though I'll warn ya, they don't say "Coin Safe" though...

I can typically, get about eleventy six slabs in a full load...
