Wow. What a sad story! That poor guy's life collection is gone. From the details in the story it looks like the wife pawned them off and bought a house with the money....

What a gold digger. That burns me. The old man will die without his collection. That story is really depressing. :(

What a slag! There's a lot of extremely devious people out there.

Man, can't help but feel sorry for the guy. Sounds though the wife took the collection, but what is sad is it probably will never turn up. :( Wonder if he had any paper money, tha would help if he knew any of the serial numbers. ut, not likely I would say. That is sad, not entirely because of the monetary value, but the sentimental value I would say.

WOW. Not nice at all. I wonder if the police are checking coin dealers for those coins. They did not state what type of coins those were. If they published that info on all of these coin forums it may be possible the someone knows where that collection ended up. Hopefully not in change just to be a ............

Here's hoping the case will be easy to resolve, she'll go to jail and he'll get her 1.3M house which he in turn can sell and BUY COINS with the proceeds.

Lonely is a *****, but I'd rather be lonely with 1.3M and a hobby I love than without.

    peace,

Isn't love grand! The poor sap may have taken senile. I've got a $60K wholesale price coin collection in the bottom of one of my tool boxes at work, I don't trust banks either. Sometimes it is better to hide something in plain sight but a safe is asking for trouble. Of course unless the safe weighs a ton and has an armed guard. I have friends who keep valuables in a small safe in their home. I tell them that a safe is advertising what needs to be stolen.

Why doesn't the old man's family do something about it? I know I would.
