Doesn't appear there is any true doubling. There is die deterioration which gives the appearance , such as with a "poorman's double die" which really isn't, just Die Deterioration of the last 5.

Thank You. I hardly thought that I might be so lucky as to find a '55 DD, but I required and appreciate your knowledge! ~Jim

With the true 55 DDO, if you have to ask, it isn't it.

Great Answer and understood. I expect the same applies to the '69 s?

69s is so rare, I'd get a second opinion on it regardless.

The 1969-s DDO is indeed rare, but can be found. If you find one, you will have no doubts as to what you have found. I discovered one last May, and sold it through heritage.
Check out PCGS Coinfacts to see high detail photos and other info on most coins, and to check your coin against a known example of the coin. Make sure to check the die markers such as polish lines etc, for a positive match.

That is quite true about Die #1, but not as true about Die #2. However if die #1 didn't exist , the #2 would be somewhat exceptional compared to current dinky single squeeze ones :)

I saw a raw '55 DDO at the N.O.W. coin show on Friday for $1,250, almost thought my eyes were messing with me while looking in the case. lol

And regardless of price they all do it.
