So, don't tell them you are cherrypicking. "Just looking for something that interests me." Rather than someone getting a deal, they would rather die with the coins
Here is the problem. They keep everything in back. And nothing in their display cases other than modern Silver, ASE's and the like, so when you ask if they have a particular coin, they ask what you need. Then they go in the back and pick out what they want to show you. Case in point, they are offering so called BU 1921 Peace dollars for 277.00, isn't that below wholesale? When I asked, he checked the grey sheet and yes, yes it is. I asked him how they could give such a deal on them. He replied, "we have tons in the back." So if they really had that many, i thought, I'll have him bring out a handful and take a look. So he goes in the back and returns with 2 1921's. At best AU or high XF on the first, but cleaned. The other appeared UNC, but lightly polished. When I brought this up, he got offensive. "Well, if you don't want the coin, don't buy it." I thought no s*** This place has been in business for 40 years. So they say.
I know most are posting over these on the MOD Special Silver Set threads, but they are new. So here are some pics. Scratch on holder on reverse of $1.00 Silver Proof $1.00 I kept this set and sent the other one I got to be graded. I would have sent 2, however I felt the dark spot at 12:00 over Roosevelt's head onn the RP would have kept it from getting a 70. The other set was imo was flawless, so we'll see. Tell me what'cha think.
Grandma gave me a 1945 Walking Liberty Half Dollar today, believe I already have it, if so..... see witch one is better on grade and trade/sell the other.
i agree 100% this is how i look at gifts from family. If it is life changing money like tens of thousands of dollars then i think its ok to sell i know my grandparents would be mad if i didnt sell but i get mad seeing those people on pawn stars that sell there grandpa's ww2 bomber jacket for a few hundred bucks then say how they will blow the money at the casino
Now I really have to have them. I don't care about the dollar coin but the dimes are badass. They're not cheap but maybe the prices will come down when I have enough spare cash to buy them. I just got a reverse proof Kennedy half and it's awesome.
I love the silver reverse proofs. I've been trying to get as many as I can get at a reasonable price. I missed the first RP silver eagle
