I got a non Roman coin ( gasp!)

    In all seriousness though I do have a question: why did the ptolomies issue these large bronze coins and not silver fractions ( obols, hemidrachms, and drachms)?

    My guess is that the bronze coinage took care of the small change issue. It's hard to image how some of the tiniest fractional silver was handled in ancient Greek commerce - it must have been a pain in the ass to count up a handful of tetartemoria without losing a few. The Ptolemies probably discovered that it was easier to handle larger bronze coins than tinier silver ones.

    TIF does not have one :(

    I do have two or three on my "find & buy" list though. It's a matter of finding the right ones at the right prices. :)

    It's taking longer than hoped to find the "right" coins.
