I have the opportunity to pickup a Capped Bust Half Dollar 1825 O-117 variety graded VF30. I don't collect or play with this series and am wondering what would be a good buy for this coin? Eventhough I don't collect this series, I do like it alot. Thanks in advanced for any input and help.
It's a rarity 4, and personally I don't pay any premium for R.4's. They just don't bring returns when I trade or sell em. So for this coin I'd pay $140 and not a penny more. But that's just me.
Either would I , well maybe a slight premium . But if you look what they sometimes sell for on ebay , the people go nuts on R-4s and above .
But since you buy them to flip , what would you sell a coin you paid $140 for , I bet at least $200 or more .
I don't see R.4 busties selling for big premiums. I mean, PCGS slabbed capped halves go for more, but I always attribute that to the PCGS addiction, not the rarity rating. Although I remember one R4 that gets a premium... the 18.11 late die state.
Yeah, I suppose I'd like to get 200 or so, but NGC holders are a tougher sell than PCGS, not for some series, but certainly for busties. I guess my pricing advice for the OP was to simply not pay a large premium for a VF range, NGC bust half. Buy smart. Buy low.
Nice piece, but R-4's should not command a premium, or not much. Rusty: Do you want some nice R-4's at that premium? [Mods: J/K of course!]
I'm basically saying if you see an R-4 on Feabay that they'll bring some decent premiums . I personally think they should bring maybe a 15 to 20 % premium .
Wow!... he's definitely looking for a premium!!! Guess that's why he didn't entertain my $130 offer, lol
