what kind error is this penny

    Hi I am new here , I got this coin about 10 years ago, some one can tell me what is this error

    I think its a die clash with an odd form of post mint damage on the obverse.

    I'm just a novice when it comes to errors so I hope some more experienced members chime in.

    No idea whats going on on the obverse but the reverse looks like a typical vice job (PMD).

    Yes, it is PMD. The giveaway to this can be seen on the reverse because the date is backwards. This means that the coin was "sandwiched" between a coin on the reverse and some unknown object on the obverse with pressure probably being applied by a vise.

    First of all WELCOME, Second I would wait around, you will hear from many more people.. Oh and don't loose the lincoln!! I say it's a keeper,someone else will have to tell you why..LOL

    I was thinking that the marks looked a bit off for a clash. Well you learn something new everyday.

    cpm9ball got it right, post strike damage by being squezed between another coin and some other object that damaged the obv. Valuable as an educational piece only, no collector value.
