Herennia Etruscilla AR Antoninianus. OBV: HER ESTRVSCILLA AVG, Diademed & draped bust right on crescent. REV: PVDICITA AVG, Pudicitia Seated left holding sceptre & drawing veil from her face. REF: RIC 59b, RSC 19. I just received this coin in the mail a couple hours ago. This is my own photo shoot. Getting better, I think but I still have a ways to go. This brings my Roman ruler count up to 101, as mentioned in my celebration thread. By all means, post those Herennia Etruscilla coins if you wish.
Nice coin. I have one with Pudicitia standing HERENNIA ETRUSCILLA AR Antoninianus OBVERSE: HER ETRVSCILLA AVG - Diademed, draped bust right on crescent. REVERSE: PVDICITIA AVG - Pudicitia, veiled, standing left, with right hand drawing veil from face and holding scepter Struck at Rome, 249-51 AD 4.82g, 24.13mm RIC 58b
Cool addition. My only one of her. Herennia Etruscilla (249 - 253) AR Antoninianus O: HER ETRVSCILLA AVG Draped bust right on crescent, hair in straight lines with long plait carried up the back of head, stephane in hair. R: PVDICITIA AVG Pudicitia, veiled, seated left, drawing veil with right hand, transverse scepter in left. 23mm 4.2g RIC IV, Part III, 59b (Trajan Decius)
Really lovely coins of H.R. ---Mine is a 'variation' of the one Bing posted--with a standing Pudicitia Reverse. The Obverse is a sellers photo and the reverse my 'contribution'---I think I have more than a bit further to go than you in acquiring photographic skills, Gil, but that's part of the 'fun' right?
An antoninianus and a sestertius here. As I have a soft spot for the DIVI series struck under Trajan Decius, I felt in obligation to have both antoninianus and sestertius I used to have a Pudicita seated too, but parted with it some years ago Herennia Etruscilla, Antoninianus Rome mint, AD 250/251 HER ETRVSCILLA AVG, diademed bust right, with hair ridged in waves PVDICITIA AVG, Pudicitia standing left holding transverse sceptre and drawing veil from her face 3.78 gr, 21 mm Ref : RIV IV # 58b, Cohen # 17, RCV # 9494 Herennia Etruscilla, Sestertius Rome mint, AD 250 HERENNIA ETRVSCILLA AVG, diademed and draped bust right, hair ridged in waves PVDICITIA AVG, Pudicitia seated left, holding sceptre and drawing veil from face, S C at exergue 16.17 gr Ref : RCV # 9505 var, Q
Sweet new addition, Daryl ... => ummm, is that 101, or is that still part of the Big 100?!! Herennia Etruscilla AR Antoninianus 249-251 AD Herennia Etruscilla & Pudicitia ... I like my example because it has a bit of extra silver (ya can't have too much silver, my friends)
Very nice coins guys. Maybe one day I'll also get a Sestertius. This is my 101th Roman ruler. I had it marked pending on my 100th celebration because it was on it's way in the mail.
Mine is a junker sestertius. Below is the acsearch upgrade version double sestertius: http://www.acsearch.info/search.html?id=2176888 It has the same reverse but nothing else remotely similar.
Great job on 101 Gil. i need to count up my Emps. i have one to share.. Hereric Estrada Oh sorry, every time i see her name i think of him, Chips... Herennia Etrusilla 249-251..AD.. Ar Antoninianus.. 23mm x 4.53g.
Ponch => ahahaha (CHIPs) .... brings back memories of those wonderfully bad 70's TV shows (thanks for the memory, Eng)
Trajan Decius-----Messius Decius??? I bet he had a hell of a time in Roman 'grade school' with all the kids making fun of his name in rhyme...
