Figured this might save some of the other ebay sellers a hard time down the road.

Buyer left me Neutral feedback after buying a item over a month ago. Never asked for a refund or etc. Sent me emails complaining of the coin coming back from NGC as harshly cleaned. When i said it clearly states in the ad that the coin shows signs of cleaning. His reply was "I didn't read the description, Sometimes i don't have time".

Are you serious. He claims i should have put cleaned in the title. Never mind that its stated in the TWO main areas where everyone should read and also a high quality photo is uploaded that clearly shows cleaning lines...

He even threatened that he should have left a negative due to my sneaky ethics and that i was ruining the coin community.

I just have to laugh at some people in this world. Its a sham but i knew sooner or later i was going to land one of these goofs on my feedback. There are just too many in the Ebay pool.

I suggest you block this bidder before he strikes again. A neutral might not sound like much but when it affects the top rated discount it means a lot to the bottom line of a ebay seller each month.

You'll have to excuse my ranting..Im steaming over this as ive busted my butt to get 100% feed back, top rated seller and 14 day return on every item....

here is the ad..Let me know if you think it was described wrong or sneaky? I believe its listed as true as can be and the picture is leaps and bounds beyond most ebay listings.

How much will a single neutral (as opposed to negative) affect the top-rated discount? It doesn't affect your displayed "100% feedback" rating. If it were a negative, you might have a case for getting it removed; don't know how that works for a neutral.

If someone left me a feedback that said "I suggest buyers to read description before buying", I'd be inclined to leave a followup that says "By all means. Description and photo were accurate and complete."

Well, the picture doesn't scream "cleaned" to me, but if it's an accurate representation of the coin in hand, then that's fine. The toning does quietly whisper "dipped and retoned," but it could certainly have been original. Not all coins tone attractively, after all. And, like you said, you do clearly state "cleaned" twice in the auction.

The one thing you did do that kind of annoys me as a buyer is put "rainbow" in the title. I don't see anything resembling rainbow toning there. The color palette seems to range from golden brown to brown. I don't have a big problem with coins toned that way, but I wouldn't call them "rainbow."

As @-jeffB suggested, I'd look into having the feedback removed.

You did nothing wrong, but when I was selling I was honest almost to a fault. If I suspected my coin may have been cleaned, I would put it in the title so certain buyers would not click on it and waste their time.

Yes you do mention the coin has probably been cleaned before, but lets be honest here, you weren't very upfront either. You could have put it in the title. You then say the photos are very clear about showing cleaning, yet in your description you write "slight signs of a past cleaning". You can't complain that it should be seen in the photos if you are also stating in the description that it is slight. That's contradicting.

Lastly, as Paul stated in his post, it appears you're bs'ing about the rainbow tone. Seems very salesmanship to me to try to get the problem coin sold. So yea I think sneaky is appropriate.

It shows in photos under zoom. In hand it could be almost passed as uncleaned.. Hence the description of slight signs of past cleaning. I don't understand your reasoning but not seeing the coin in hand may have something to do with it.

I used rainbow as its a keyword as many search for that keyword. However faint in some ranges The coin in hand has blues, green, purple, orange, red, brown and slight yellows around the rim depending on the lighting. To me the rainbow toning use was ok, I mean you have a giant photo to show you the coin. It's not what I expect most to see when they close there eyes and think rainbow Morgan....but when all those colors show on the coin I consider it one....just far down the family tree!

Someone posted a pretty large list a while back in a thread I forget the title of. It was a nice resource.

Fantastic photography by the way. Coin looks great.

I'll have to search for that list.

Oh so let's just make stuff up to get more views. I see now :hilarious:.

In that case I should just change all my listings to include rainbow toning. When a buyer complains it doesn't have any color I'll just tell them it's not my fault they don't have the right lighting. Maybe I'll even suggest they go to Home Depot and buy purple bulbs if they want to see purple toning or red bulbs if they want red toning. And if they leave neutral or negative feedback I will start a thread demanding everyone block them. Sounds like a great idea. Thanks for the tip!

So you have never used a keyword in a search title? Good for you. It has some features I consider rainbow. That is my opinion as stated above.

Once again unless you are blind there is a giant picture to go off of.

I never received a email or complaint about the color. Period. Using "rainbow" was never a issue/problem or the point of the thread.

I don't know what your problem is or maybe you just get off by trying to come off as a big and bad Internet personality.

I started the thread to help/give other sellers a heads up. I never demanded as you say anything of anyone.....

If you don't find it helpful just move along rather than filling it with nonsense and silly comments of bulbs and box stores.

It doesn't take long to discover that eBay buyers are some of the world's biggest idiots. If this is the only problem you've had so far consider yourself lucky.

I use keywords that are factual

Probably cause the buyer was more upset and busy complaining about the coin being cleaned.

No problem here. Not a big and bad internet personality here either. Just calling it like I see it. Seems to me you were pissed (by your own admission) and wanted to bash someone who had every right to leave you neutral feedback. I'm sorry you didn't like that or that it didn't turn out the way you wanted with everyone patting you on the back.

If anyone is being a "big and bad internet personality" it's you by bashing the buyer in this case. You messed up by not putting CLEANED COIN or at the very least READ DESCRIPTION in the title. Instead you put "rainbow tone" which you admit isn't really there ("depending on the lighting", "however faint in some ranges" and "far down the family tree"). I think most collectors would agree the coin being cleaned is more important than toning. Yet you decided to only mention the toning in the title. Why?... because "many search for that keyword". How convenient. Yes, you were being sneaky. Time to own up to it.

As for me moving on, I will do so when I very well please. I too am here trying to help people by pointing out the ignorance to your mistake. Perhaps you should take some of your own advice and move along if you don't like my comments instead of quoting and replying to them. And maybe, just maybe, instead of bashing a buyer on here you should have moved along and let it go after they left you neutral feedback (which was well deserved).

Buyer should have read the description, absolutely. That doesn't mean you (or any seller that does the same) are absolved of any wrongdoing, intentional or not. I do think it was sneaky to not mention the coin had been cleaned in the title when you clearly knew. I also think it speaks volumes that not once have you admitted by now that it should have been in the title. You have had many opportunities to admit that by now. My only conclusion is that you feel it's okay to leave it out of the title. Maybe not everyone thinks that's sneaky, but I do!

Up to now I feel I have been respectful towards you. I never took any of it personal, but it seems you have as you are now resorting to name calling. Very well. Hopefully this makes you a better seller. Bye.
