A rare overdate bust half with original toning, great luster, and in a high AU grade... but WHY??? HOW??? OH THE HUMANITY!

Looks like the plastic surgeon was drawing a few lines for where the tucks were gonna be.......

Still a nice 8/7 even with the damage.

Shame indeed. I'd still keep it since I don't own any variety of that one.

Send it to PCGS. They may still slab it...hahaha. I have seen many damaged bust halves in their plastic lately. :D ;)

I think you guys ought to give the girl a break. Those scratches aren't necessarily AS. If they're natural scratches (NS), she's entitled to a grade. It depends on what the experts say.

The lines really don't bother me all that much. I still think it's a very nice looking coin.

:) I always like the Flowing Hair liberty designs that we started with. The Bust Capped design kinda looked like a "blockhead". My opinion, of course, just felt we went a little backward in design...and NO offense to anyone :) But, to subject at hand: VERY nice coin! Hope it grades and slabs well. Sadly, scratches, but I have always been fascinated as to whom "held" the coins and why scratches, etc. happened! :)

There are three 1818/7 die marriages.

This one, obverse 2, [small 8]
is mated with reverse B, AM nearly touch.

    So, O-102

Fortunately, I have all three die marriages.
    The O-101-- Large 8 in a F-12
    The O-102 without die crack, R-2 G-06
    The O-102a VF-20
    The O-103 VF-25

Missing only the die state O-103a, with 'Additional die cracks'.
