This has happened to me twice this week. A buyer buys a very cheap coin, then asks for immediate feedback for their new accounts. Later in the day, eBay send me a email saying that the sale was retracted because these people weren't registered on eBay. This happen to anyone else?
Did the bidders have some screwed up usernames with alot of jumbled letters and such? I have some oddball stuff listed and have seen nothing but single digit feedback people bid and every single one has jumbled letters as a username. Worse is they are putting multiple bids at different times of day/night. I blocked one because it was over 10 in 1 day by the one person. Other 2 I have up I am just watching. Its pretty much low value stuff too, not precious metals or anything.
There are probably buyers who, after receiving feedback, have submitted chargebacks to PayPal after the sellers have shipped merchandise, leaving sellers little recourse, if any. I've been confronted with this situation more than once, declined to leave immediate feedback, and was praised by eBay for having identified them as questionable buyers before it was too late. Because the buyer is not registered with eBay, you have no seller's protection from eBay, so you'd be out on a limb by yourself. - Mike
I'm confused (nothing new about that) but the "buyers" must've been registered at the time they entered bids, and if that's true, eBay apparently just protected you from a bad buyer by kicking them off eBay. That's the good news and the bad news. Good because they got NARU'ed (Not a Registered User), but bad because eBay thinks kicking someone off the site is a fate worse than death so really bad crooks don't get prosecuted for criminal activities online. Just saying...
Are these buyers paying with Mobile Express via Paypal? or perhaps via a cell phone app? Maybe that's why they have those jumbled names, basically tied through their phone and not ebay? This is just a guess different than "it's a scam"
I received this phishing scam today: from PayPal<> PayPal is constantly working to ensure security by regularly screening accounts. Recently, we reviewed yours and noticed some atypical account activity. We need some clarification from you before we can remove the current limitations on your account. Until we receive this information, your access account features will be limited. Some of your buyers have reported that they never received their items or that there was a problem with what they received. We need to understand this activity and how it relates to your business. Go to Resolution Center and we'll display a list of tasks that you need to complete. After you complete all of the tasks, one of our Account Specialists will review your case. We will send you an email with the outcome of the review within 3 days. PayPal. All rights reserved.
Not that I think anyone here would fall for it, but perhaps you should edit your original post to break that link.
Good call. Just came back to do that, after forwarding it to spoof@PayPal and getting settled in from work.
You can't bid on eBay unless you are a registered user. However, someone could join and bid, then get booted off eBay after bidding, which is apparently what happened in this case.
If that were the case, you should be able to see that the person had been NARU'ed. But the OP doesn't say what the buyer's status is/was.
If it can be thought of it can be done on e bay. A short story.... my wife's boss ask me to sell some boating electronics on e bay. A color Radar and fish finder. The units had map cards that covered the Eastern US coast from Canada to Mexico. Both units Were the size of a 24 x 24 inch cube. I listed them for sale U.S. only! In less than an hour a boat captain from Australia purchased and paid in full! Plus it cost over $100. To ship them from the mid Atlantic US to Western Australia . Now the good new it was legitimate sale as he paid in full right away, received the items in 10 days. How can you buy something that not listed for sale other than in the US.
Instead of looking at ebay.com.au they go to our ebay.com. I go and look at australian ebay sometimes to see what I can fine. It always say that the seller hasn't posted any sales to US but I guess you could just bid and see what happens.
