    Hi all,

I have a few coins from a family collection and I have no idea what their worth may be. One of them is a silver dime, quite old, in a plastic case. It has a NGC number (3319096-002) which I know is some sort of certification, and the title mentioned above.

Is this going to be worth trying to sell, or is it just of value for it's collectability?

Welcome to CT. Well that is a pretty rare coin you have there . Retail value range in the mid to upper 30 thousands.

What a beauty of a coin and one that most folks can only dream/wish we could afford.
If it were mine I'd keep it in the family and enjoy it until it's time to pass it to the next generation.

How many would you like to buy at that number ?
Before spouting off a price you may want to investigate what the last few have sold for.

FWIW, some have sold for $38,000 and some $60,000+ on Heritage. I looked it up.

Sure & years ago some commems. sold for thousands more than they do today. What is relevant are the current pricing trends for this (NGC) graded coin.

Thanks gronnh20 for the link to the NGC verification page, now I know how to look up that number, this seems to be the same coin. I don't know what the NGC valuation means though - I'd reckon the real value is what someone would pay for it. Bedford, what site is that you show a screen shot from? Seems reasonable to say recent auction prices reflect the actual value.

Finally, how would I go about selling this? Certainly not on ebay or such with this kind of value, or, as TwoBit mentioned, if it's a real gem, it may be nice to just leave it be.

You need to work with someone knowledgeable. I would actually recommend eBay IF you were knowledgeable. Not knowing where you are, my recommendation would be to contact lostdutchman on this site. @LostDutchman He is honest and the very least you will get is how to handle it.

I'm still getting advice on it's value; what would you say it was worth, as a private sale? I'm not savvy about auctions and such yet.

Please talk to Matt before you do anything! He can give you an honest valuation.
