I just ordered a bunch of coins that haven't been shipped yet. I would like to work on them here if you don't mind. Also to show them off. I think they are good deals, mostly. I'm going to post one at a time as a work on them. Check the thread often until I have posted 6 coins. Constantine AE3 Follis, Londinium mint. OBV: IMP CONSTANTINVS P F AVG, Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right. REV: SOLI INVIC-TO COMITI T-F, Sol standing left holding globe. Mintmark PLN. REF: RIV VI Londinium 122
You are in luck. Here is a $10 Vespasian bronze eagle. lol Vespasian AE As. OBV: IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG COS III, Laurate head right. REV: S-C, eagle, head right, perched atop globe with wings half open. REF: RIC 322, Cohen 480. I suspect this coin may have been tooled. What do you guys think?
The edges around the eagle's head and left wing look a little too sharp for the rest of the coin, but not a big deal.
Herennia Etruscilla AR Antoninianus. OBV: HER ESTRVSCILLA AVG, Diademed & draped bust right on crescent. REV: PVDICITA AVG, Pudicitia Seated left holding sceptre & drawing veil from her face. REF: RIC 59b, RSC 19. This is my next $10 coin.
Trajan AE As. OBV: IMP CAES NERVAE TRAIANO AVG GER DAC P M TR P COS V P P, Laureate head right. REV: SPQR OPTIMO PRINCIPI, S C in exergue, Trajan on horseback right, spearing Dacian below horse. REF: RIC 543, Cohen 509. Can't lie though, I'm pretty hyped about getting this particular coin.
Vespasian. AE Dupondius. Lugdunum mint, 71 AD. OBV: IMP CAES VESPASIAN AVG COS III, Radiate head right, globe at point of head portrait. REV: S-C, Victory flying left carrying shield inscribed SPQR. REF: RIC II 1153.
Constantine I Londinium mint. AE Follis OBV: IMP CONSTANTINVS P AVG, Cuirassed bust right? REV: SOLINVIC-TO COMITI, Sol standing left, chlamys falling from left shoulder, holding globe, right hand raised. Mintmark PLN. REF: Pending Haven't found a reference yet that matches the details. Makes it harder that I can't tell the details on the bust portrait. This coin is arguably the worst of the lot but it's still a Londinium coin.
I'm away for the weekend with my better half, so I've been using this darn tablet. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you these are really nice to have come from a $10 bin. Congrats.
Thanks for the comments. A online dealer friend has a shop and some bins. We talked about it for awhile and I picked these coins.
sweet new additions, my friend ... very cool => I like the Vespasian. AE Dupondius (great eye appeal) Curious, have you now eclipsed the 100 ruler barrier?
As soon as the Marcianus coin arrives, I will be at 100 exactly. This coin has been shipped. That Herennia Etruscilla will be 101 when it's shipped.
I'm thinking about doing another celebration post. The last one I made was in December of last year. Think it's too soon to do another? What do you guys think?
