Do you dislike the issue as well? Modern coins with high survival rates? Or just the hyped pedigree label? I kinda dislike all this, but the dimes are interesting. I just don't see much upside potential
I'm going to go for a set from the mint, but if I don't get it from them I'll likely not deal with the flipper market.
I'm so close to starting a date/mint collection of Roosevelt dimes...I may have to get this set. I don't like the price or the release date.
Rather than getting a set of these, I am just going to donate the $10.00 surcharge directly to the March of Dimes. The bad news I have won't have the coins, but the good news is I won't have the coins. Problem solved.
I think the dimes have a good chance for appreciation. If you're like me and want to do 'silver sets' of the moderns, both of these are a must have to complete the Roosevelt set. PLUS a fraction of the mintage of any other Roosevelt. What's the next closest mintage, like a million something for one of the newer silver proofs? Hopefully I can score one from the mint but if not I'll snag a 69 in the after market of the RP.
I love the fact they are supporting the March of Dimes. I could go either way on the set itself. Like Greenie said, it is the hype is that is nauseating. What is even worse is the fact there are people who think this superficial crap is important and therefore will actually pay up for it. If there weren't foolish people to buy it, the scumbag TPGs wouldn't be selling it. It seems both groups are the problem.
Same here. It's getting to the point they need a larger slab to fit in all the label. Just a hint for you green18. Aim away from the keyboard. It's hard to clean those things.
You may think I am crazy for saying this, but 75,000 is not that low of a mintage. I realize that this will be the lowest mintage for the Roosevelt dime series, but the RP dimes in this set are really NIFC commemoratives. There are many other commemoratives with a lot more silver content and much lower mintages. I don't collect labels. TC
The problem with things like this people think or are lead to believe that by buying this set the $10 surcharge is going to charity. And yes some of the money is,key word SOME! As I have found making any donations one must be careful of added on processing fee's and well as administration fee's and then there's this fee....etc. I have limited my giving to groups or charitable organizations that makes sure 100% of the amount given ,is received by and used for the cause. I have no problems giving to someone in need a helping hand, I give a lot to animal rescue. I have used Mission fish on E bay before, what a joke. Ken you may recall that set of commemorate veteran coins I sold to benefit the disabled veterans . When it was all said and done I believe the disabled vets got 1/3 the money. Another time was for a animal shelter whom is a no kill shelter. Again they ended up with 1/3 . Yes I would love the two dimes in the proof set, no I don't collect comm's , that said I'll pass on these. And make a donation to a worthy cause that the total 100% will go to the cause ,and not some over paid administrator .
Labels such as this should be "expected" since this is how the TPG's perpetuate their business model. Namely, getting people to buy their slabs. In the case of these "types" of coins, the slab creates an artificial sense of rarity over and above what the relative rarity of the coin is. Folks should be used to it by now as, it isn't going to change nor is it going to stop. PCGS should be following suit on this one just to keep the competition going between the perceived "top two TPG's".
