Hey guys thought i would put this one up for discussion/help/attribution.... `45p jeff w a Re-punched MM south AND east it appears. There is doubing east on pluribus unum if u look very closely. I apologize about the image quality. If u have the book or a site to match this up it would be greatly appreciated as its out of my vam wheel-house. Thanks !!
Its hard to see i know, the upper inside loop of the MM and just slightly doubled letters east but it could be MD...
There are so many repunched mm in 1943 of each mint P ,D & S. As for value very little in circulated coins. Still a cool find and a keeper for your collection . I also agree with Eddie lamination is on the rev.
2 things: 1) it looked way cooler in hand, than in my sucky images. 2)i always strike out with these old jeffs but ill just keep checkin `em `cause i buy blue whitman folders (filled) all the time! Paddy is there a site w the info on war nickels or is it a file download only type deal?
Variety vista.com you can go there and down load or just view the file. And don't stop buying as there are thousands of varieties in those old albums. How many time do you see here at CT revisiting their collection and finding something they missed before? That said who knows what you could find in an old folder. Case in point I'm working a coin show, man walks in sez my cousin just passed we are cleaning out his house are these worth anything ? The next thing you know you buy a book and there's a variety then another.... as the person whom passed squirrel ed these away years ago. He never knew anything about variety coins. BINGO !
Besides Heavy you got an rpm, lamination error, and sort of woody tone going on with that nickel. Cool find! No you're not going to retire on it but really a cool find.
This one isn't a war nickel. In 1942, some are the silver nickels and some are the normal copper & nickel. If the large mint mark is above Montecello, it's a silver war nickel.
