Can you believe i paid $28 for this at a show? When i seen the book value i actually felt bad for haggling the guy down $4 off his price lol
haha A great coin. I've always wanted a nice steelie but I always feel they are too much Great coin and a great deal.
Its just a quote from a hillibilly i know.... ive been waiting for the right moment to say it... now i just need to come across someone w a flat tire so i can say: " you better check the wind in yer tires"
Rusty funny you should say that.... Heavy what were my exact words to you? About ANACS old slabs? You know what Rusty I hunt these at every show. They hold a lot of treasures. I cherry pick these slabs all the time. I'll buy one of these on a whim.
No doubt paddy, Anacs small white slabs fit perfectly in your pocket, and they are accurately graded! Especially Morgan $, as a matter of fact, i dont recall EVER running into an overgraded Morgan in these slabs...
I agree , they pretty much got Bust halves right , if not even a little undergraded . I have IIRC an 1825 Bust half in a small white ANACS slab that graded XF , it was dipped but still has nice cartwheel and I think it would grade at least a 50 at PCGS or NGC . I love the size too and wish all slabs were that size .
Also, they dont scratch easily and the back corners dont break like pcgs slabs do.... Ive heard these slabs are easier to image but i cant really verify that statement. Paddy told me basically to give him a shout when i run across these... I live in columbus and see alot of these at shows(Anacs was located here back in the day). I have literally carried around a new purchase for days because these slabs wont take all your pocket space(plus im a coinaholic!)
Yep, im not sure where Anacs is located today. I know one thing though, the web-site/cert lookup leaves alot to be desired. I have more than 1 coin that doesnt work when typing in the serial #....
zinc is not magnetic, and all 1943 cents, unlike copper or modern(post 1982 cents) will not stick to a magnet. thus, it is steel coated with a thin layer or zinc. real question is this the 1943 listed in the Cherry Pickers book as a double die?
