Nice! Especially the 1982-P is tough to find in nice shape, in my experience. I can't remember if you've mentioned it, but do you look for the no "FG" on the reverse variety?

Yes, on the reverse of both the 82 and 83. I have found one that needs a 10X loupe to see the initials.
You don't really see it with the naked eye. I also have several that I call "weak initials".
The strike is quite weak but only on the designer"s initials.

    Jackpot!!!!

Today I stop at a Bank of America while on the road. I ask for half dollars. They have 11 rolls so I stay calm and fork over my $110. Then I casually leave the bank and go to my car. The excitement of actually finding a bank with halves took over when I got in the car and I opened all 11 rolls. They were 11 rolls of clad :( :( :(

My bank, BankAtlantic, has coin machines and since they are free, I find a BankAtlantic branch (thanks to my Garmin GPS) and dump my halves in the machine. I hand the teller my slip for $110 and also a small check I needed to deposit. Then I ask her if they have any half dollars. She says "Yes, I have $10 worth". GREAT, I say, I'll take them. She starts piling them on the counter to count them and I can see they are ALL NOT clad. Again, I remain calm as if it's no big deal...just 20 Kennedy halves. I give her $10 and she places them in an envelope.

I get to the car and JACKPOT!!! They are all 1964 Kennedys and appear to be uncirculated. I think someone found a roll at home and took them in to the bank to get $10. I tried taking a digital but it's 8:30 PM and dark and my flash keeps going off so I had to scan them. The scanner on my printer/scanner/fax combo unit it terrible but you'll still be able to see the beauty. The yellow spots aren't on the coins, or at least visible to the eye. They are still worth every penny of TEN DOLLARS!!!!!

My best bank effort to date :)

I live in a big city and often go to 40 banks a week to buy halfs...Well, tuesday was the day that articles are written about. The bank had 160.00 in halfs, After going through them all here are my finds...

    136 barber half dollars ( 12 of them being 1897 0's)

    74 walking libertys

    2 franklins.....

needless to say, I was freaking out.. have some but kept many!!!

I often find a couple and more often dont find any but this was the find of a lifetime...I didnt even know what the barbers were at first and called them "morgan half dollars" lol untill I got the proper name...

That's amazing. Out of 320 half dollars, 212 were silver. You didn't mention any Kenndy half dollars? Were the rest clad Kennedy's? Any of them silver? I bought 11 rolls ($110) in half dollars and got 220 clad Kennedy halves. I'm truly amazed Anthony.

Well I ordered an entire box ($500) of half dollars a few days ago from Colonial Bank. After about 3 rolls, i realized these have been searched already. Turns out all 1,000 coins were clad, and almost all in pretty bad shape. Its as if someone searched 20 boxes, and put all the worste ones in this one box. Mold, dirt, glue, chemicals, all sorts of nasty stuff convered a lot of the coins. Whats worse, is that each roll, without fail, contained at least one Kennedy with a huge "S" written in permanent marker across the face. I guess someone did this to mark which coins he had already searched. In my opinion, that was a horrible thing to do.

I ended up with a couple "No FG" errors, and a few rare 80s dates. As I rewrapped the rolls, I was sure to put all the ones marked with an "S" aside, to put into a coin counter later. Maybe one day that same guy will come across these rolls, and re-search them all due to his marked coins be removed.

I'm going to go ahead and order another box tomorrow. :( Hopefully I will have better luck.

Searched 10 rolls of nickels. (That's all y local branch had today.) Nothing before '64, and not many in the 60's to begin with. I think these were searched already as the selection really stunk. At least last time I pulled a '53 and a Centennial nickel out of the batch.

LOL--what a great, heartwarming story! Just don't look through these while you're driving (good you at least stayed in the parking lot :D). :)

The scans are a little fuzzy because I didn't want to take it out of the flip. But I'm starting to hate you guys because I'm finding myself pulling up to bank drive-up windows, now, whenever I get some time on my hands. I hate it because, unfortunately, I don't have too much time for that, and besides that the change is starting to pile up. And then, just my luck, the last time I do that (about a week ago), I find something like this! I say the moderators ought to close this thread before you all turn the whole bunch of us into hopeless addicts! :D

LOL... Ive been addicted for a while now... I often dont sell my silver rather I save it up and think to myself ok I have x amount of ounces at 14 bucks an ounce and I figure it into my quan!

I spend about 15-20- hours a week at it and although I have many no hitters I have consistantly been able to score about 15-25 ounces a week and sometimes find rare dates that I sell for hundreds..(example 1921 walking liberty worth about 220.00

Just turn it into a "part-time job" and commit to it like you would any other...
I have found thursdays to be the best hunting day overall...

BUT DONT QUIT YOUR DAY JOB!!!

    20 1964 kennedys = about 7.2 ounces x 14.00 = 100.80

    nice find!

I just found a bicentennial kennedy silver proof yesterday.

I've also found 2 1998D Kennedy Strikethrough a piece of copper.
I've found several other proof kennedies
I've found several of the washington dollars with a missing edge inscription
I've found several washington dollars with a strikethrough (not 100% sure it's through grease)
I've found 2 Kennedy Halves with a weak strike. Both have proof like mirrored surfaces and one of them has a serious loss of detail.
I've found a Kennedy Half with lamination problem where the obverse looks like brass because the nickel layer was so thin
I've found some 100 kennedies that are post 2000, most are 2001, but plenty 2002 and later.
I've found some $200 in face value of silver kennedies, mostly 40%ers, but plenty of '64s
I've found some $20 in face value of walking liberties and franklin halves, about a 50/50 mix.

Lately, the good finds have been so common, that it drives my wife nuts as to how anxious I get waiting for the bank to get the boxes of halves in.

Oh and this past week, I also found a 1998D Kennedy that was struckthrough some grease where the 1 in 1998 was almost completely obliterated, you can barely see the outline of the 1. It's not a large strikethrough, but it's cool because I found it myself.
