Here is another coin. It is a Morgan silver dollar. The scan doesn't pick up the PL of this coin and also the reverse is cover by gold tone. Tell me what you think ?
Nice coin. Well-struck (no surprise for an early S mint), and definitely AU/MS. Can't tell any more without better pics.
Those little flower things seem to have minor wear, which would make it au. Reverse looks like maybe it was dipped and retoned badly. I'm being super critical though
If not for the graze forward of and below Liberty's ear, I think you'd have a strong gem P/L. With the graze, I think it's a 63 P/L. Nice originality . . . should be worth a premium over 63 P/L money to someone who wants it.
yeah sorry for the scan. The coin looks alot better than the scan. No toning. Just total white. I don't remember where I pick it up but I do have several 1926 Peace in BU, but this one is much better looking.
This 1880 S is one of the 3 I bought long time ago. The orange tones is like a gold filter on the reverse and the toning on the obverse is really nice. There is also a PL affect to this coin. I really like this coin. In person you will see it. I am not sure how I can get a better pic for it. The other 2 1880 S was Anac MS65 and MS62 PL.
Found this in some old stuff at my folks house,...looks OK but don't like how it took the color,...any thoughts? Sorry about the pics,... first on the iPhone. 1897-O
Hard to tell for sure. Once I bought a barber half that color and once I got it I could tell it was once harshly cleaned and then retoned to mask it up. It looks kinda the same. Put it under some good light and turn it different ways to see if you notice cleaning scratches. Look under magnification too
thanks,...I'm going to show it around and see if I can get some up close info. Kinda looks like surface grime to me. Can't really see the marks from a cleaning, but they could be hidden by the toning afterward.
