Hello Friends, I found this quarter out of roll. I have tried and tried online to properly ID this coin, but nothing concrete is showing up. I even showed the pic to the local coin dealer and they think its a made up coin

1.The coin is showing CLEAR EDGE like the silver quarters have. Why?
2.I double checked on 2 different machines. The weight is 5.8 grams rather then the normal 5.67 grams.
3.The Blank used is just a hair bit larger looking then a normal business strike.

I did read articles on how many different types of quarters were made of the state quarter program. But this does not seem to fit in the types. I know that both P and D mint marks made the satin finish special strikes but this one is a more clear nickel type color.
The quarter has very clear shinny surface almost like a mirror. I know from online facts that only the S mint mark was made of silver and non-silver that possibly could have this type of surface on it.

Please, if there anyone who knows what this type of quarter is?
Appreciate your advise to resolve the Q n A in my mind.

    God Bless
    Beck.
PS: I did see immitation quarters made but those are of .999 silver. 2008 Quarter with clear edge.JPG Rev image 2008 quarter with clear edge.JPG 2008 Quarter with cllear edge.JPG

TV shows like Coin Vault, sold the clad SQ's in complete sets with gold, silver & platinum coatings at exorbitant prices. Once the suckers realized they were worth no more than face value, they usually dumped them for whatever they could get.

The companys that made it on did not have a chrome edition. It does not lool like platinum to me.I have seen paltinum rings and its bright and mirror like for that.
I guess it will remain a mystery. I got 2 one for Hawaii and one for The Great Lakes state. I just wonder who and why they were made.If by chance the US mint made these theys worth a stack on money.

they are definitely not worth much. I have found a decent amount of silver and gold plated in rolls. I have a 2006 D Colorado set. as chris said they try to get rid of these cheap. I got my set $1.25. so I payed face value for each quarter and 25 cents for the holder. what I heard is that one is silver plated, one is gold plated, one is platinum plated and one is diamond plated. the layers are SO thin that they are not worth over face value
