I had a Trebonianus Gallus Antoninianus but this came up and I really liked the reverse, plus I didnt own a coin with Aeternitas. To boot it's a scarcer reverse type for him. I did a simple trade with a dealer for my old one for this, so no $ involved. Trebonianus Gallus, 251-253 AD AR Antoninianus O: IMP CAE C VIB TREB GALLVS AVG, radiate draped bust right. R: AETERNITAS AVGG, Aeternitas standing left, holding phoenix on globe and hem of robe. Rome Mint 253 A.D. 4.2g 22mm RIC 30; RSC 13
Wow, Mat => man, that's a very sweet example of T-Bone Gallus!! (yummy) Ummm, I'm not actually sure who is on my reverse? ... but whoever it is, must deal with those hard green crusties!!
Mine has even more green vegetable growth. But still special, this was one of my first Romans if i remember well.
Nice pickup Mat. Here is my only one: TREBONIANUS GALLUS AR Antoninianus OBVERSE: IMP CAE C VIB TREB GALLVS AVG - Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right. REVERSE: LIBERTAS PVBLICA - Libertas standing left, holding pileus and scepter Struck at Rome, 251-253 AD 3.5g, 21mm RIC 38
Nice first purchase. The green could be removed, if you wanted too. But being in the lettering, I wouldnt bother.
A very handsome ant, Mat! I have no coins of T. Gallus, and I gave my one Aeternitas reverse (on Gordian III) to a YN, so I'm really empty-handed in this thread. I will say I like the green deposits on THCoin's example. And I like the overall color. It looks ancient.
Wait, what am I saying? I have a very relevant coin to post, an ant of Volusian, Gallus' son. You might recognize this little beauty, Mat.
Heck yea! This is a wonderful coin with an excellent photo to boot. I am pleased you were able to trade up. Interesting portrait as well. Kudos my friend.
oh yeah, that's a very nice lookin' antoninianus. the reverse is pretty cool with the little globe an phoenix. i don't have one of this guy or of aeternitas.
