2014 D uncirculated and planchet from mint

    i went to the Denver mint for the first time and they gave me this for fre

    That's cool! May I suggest that you never separate the coin from the planchet. You may want to submit them for grading/authentication sometime.

    I agree with Chris, one of those "special" items that should not be broken out. Very nice.

    Interesting idea! Would PCGS grade a blank planchet?

    OK, I can see "grading" for type, like this [​IMG]

    but how on earth can a number possibly apply? What is there about this (below) that makes it a 62? Why not a 60 or 64? If a stamped coin had the defects shown it probably wouldn't grade (damaged/scratched).[​IMG]

    Once again, grading goes overboard.
