James Haxby Book Price

    Can someone tell me why the book by James Haxby Titled U.S. Obsolute Notes - 1782 to 1866 is so expensive?

    It's a six-volume set and each one is about 3 inches thick. At the moment it's the most comprehensive reference on obsolete notes in existence. However, there's a project in the works by the Society of Paper Money Collectors to create a massive online database to include all obsoletes. I think ultimately this will be the go-to reference for collectors.

    You can buy individual states from the publisher in electronic format.

    Like most good numismatic books, they had a small print run and demand goes up every year.

    I have it on PDF . You can find a copy of that or on a disk set for quite a lot less.
