colorado cardboard sales tax token

    when is it dated it has the same design on the obverse and the reverse

    Go to this Coin Talk page, and you will see images of 30 old sales tax tokens, from various states, which I sold in 2013. Yours dates from the 1930s.

    Photos sometimes do not portray true colors, so I will give you two answers.

    If the color is brownish-red, it was used from 1938-1941. There are die varieties, but they do not affect the value. The id # would be CO-S3, plus an additional letter to designate the die pair. Rarity is R1.

    If the color is reddish, it was used in 1942. The id # would be CO-S4, plus an additional letter to designate the die pair. Rarity is R1.

    Mintage is not known for either type, but it is known that they were manufactured by the Colorado State Penitentiary.
