What are you thoughts on this? It sure has me puzzled. Looks like a squeeze job to me, but am not entirely sure. What are everybody's thoughts on this? Phoenix
im courious how the second design is mirrored and sunk into the coin ... looks squeezed to mee as well ...
I think the main tip-offs are 1) the mirror image, which more than likely means it was pressed with a different nickel face-to-face, and 2) the date of the mirror image is 1978, and this coin is a 1979.
:headbang: :headbang: :headbang: I can't believe I didn't notice that! Thanks, I thought something didn't look right lol. Phoenix
I feel sorry for the buyer, that is a lot of money to loose on something like that. Over a hundred dollars. Phoenix
Isn't it possible that there are Jefferson type Nickels in the Klingon Empire? If they were here now they would be spening thier own money to buy things or selling their coins on ebay.
amazing I would not be able to live with myself after selling something like that.:headbang: And the seller feedback is private, imagine that!!
Sad, but yes. I don't know if I could handle the guilt of jipping someone off. But you never know. The seller might not have known it was fake, and might have bought it thinking it was real. But highly unlikely IMO. Phoenix
Theres a sucker born every minute, and then again they say theres a new coin collector born every minute
True. But I guess for the buyer this will be a live and learn experience, and hopefully he doesn't get turned off from the hobby. But the dates are an obvious sign it is a fake. Just can't believe I didn't notice that at first. :headbang: Phoenix
What's crazy is that someone is going to pay over $100 for a nickle that someone has altered in such an unappealing way.
