As for the wheat cent, this is the 3rd wheatie i've pickup up off the street. I've also picked up a '56 washington quarter off the street. It was run over by a few cars unfortunately, but still amazing someone chucked it out their window.

    Not a bad find!

I got a '41 washington quarter back in change from a drive-thru before.

It seems that sometimes i love spending cash just to get change back and see what I get. I'll sometimes go out of my way to make purchases separate or buy an item at the counter to get a total that will garantee me many coins back in change rather than 3 pennies or a single dime.

I've made out quite well with my circ finds

i have heard that people put their change in their ash tray in their car. then they smoke and don't remove the coins. when the tray becomes full, the person just dumpes it out the window at a red light. i have seen many people do this.

Yup, i've made it a habit to check out the gutters on the edge of the road when i walk down a sidewalk. I've found many coins this way. Last time i went to the coinstar, i cashed in about $20 just in change found on the street.

don't forget about the drive-thru's! one time i checked and found a bunch of change people had dropped. every time i go through a drive-thru, i check.

I always look along the footpath for coins. One time,I noticed a $10 note (which are made of polymer plastic over here in New Zealand) on the footpath outside a theatre.A lot of people had walked past it before I went ahead, picked it up,& put it into my pocket.I can guess that they thought it was a bit of rubbish lying on the path, but I,being pretty sharp noticed.

That was the easiest money I have made.$10 for doing nothing, apart from picking it up.If it had been $100,I would have still picked it up & put it into my pocket. The only time that this wouldn't be the case is when I have seen a note fly out of someone's hand.I'd pick it up & give it back to them.

My local gas station attendant had a 1992 steel cent he had received from someone in change. I inspected it and it looked legit. Has anyone heard anything about 1992 cents made of steel?

There are none. It's probably a plated cent or a coin with the copper plating removed. Slim chance it is a struck unplated planchet.

Could you post pics of it? Sounds plated or something, like GD said though.

See if it sticks to a magnet.

    It's probably an unplated cent

Whenever I stop back in I will ask him to put a magnet to it. I don't have it so I can't take a picture of it.

Not sure if finding it on the ground counts as finding it in circulation... today under the kiosk in the mall where I work found a 1996 2 dollar coin from Canada.

Two days ago I got a 1941D nickel in my change.
