    Man, I love the looks of this sweet new coin!! (yummy, yummy!!)

    Yup, this is an animal-coin winner!!

    => Juno wearing a goat-skin on the obverse ... plus, a she-wolf and an eagle on the reverse!! (cha-chinnnggg!!)

    NOTE: it has been quite a while since I've added to my RR (Roman Republic) collection ... but when I saw this great coin, I knew that it was time to man-up and add another RR to the ol' stevex6 collection!!


    L. PAPIUS CELSUS, AR DENARIUS
    ROME 45 BC
    Diameter: 18 mm
    Weight: 4.06 grams
    Obverse: Head of Juno Sospita right, wearing goat skin headdress tied at neck; all within border of dots
    Reverse: She-wolf standing right, placing stick on fire; on right, eagle standing left, fanning the flames, CELSVS • III • VIR above, L • PAPIVS in exergue
    Reference: Crawford 472/1; CRI 82; Sydenham 964
    Other: Nice silver toning (better in hand) Very scarce

    Obv: Helmeted head of Roma right, X behind, ROMA below
    Rev: Roma, helmeted, seated on two shields, holding spear before her, she-wolf standing right at her feet, head turned back, sucking Romulus and Remus. In left and right fields, two birds flying towards her.

    I have no memory of bidding on that last one. I like it though!

    Obverse: Head of Juno Sospita in goat skin, L ROSCI below, Rhyton behind (couple of banker's marks)
    Reverse: Girl standing right feeding serpent before, symbol to left, FABATI in exergue

    excellent new republican stevex! wolf helping her eagle buddy is cool, and i like the goatskin obverse...one of the type is on my list for sure.

    i always dig republican ..and TIF, that first one you posted is awesome, i don't remember it if you posted it before.
