What a coincidence! I was about to post a new Geta that arrived today. Geta denarius Obv:– P SEPT GETA PIVS AVG BRIT, Laureate head right. Rev:– PONTIF TR P III COS II, Felicitas standing left with caduceus and cornucopia Minted in Rome. A.D. 211 Reference:– RIC 78a. RSC 149 I used to collect the coins of Geta as Augustus but sold the majority of them. I only have the following two left in my collection:- Geta denarius Obv:- P SEPT GETA PIVS AVG BRIT, laureate, bearded head right Rev:- VICTORIAE BRIT, Victory, half-naked, standing left, holding wreath & palm. Minted in Rome. A.D. 210-212 Reference:- RIC 92, RSC 219, BMC 68 and my favourite Geta denarius Obv:– IMP CAES P SEPT GETA PIVS AVG, Laureate head right Rev:– PONTIF TR P COS II, Geta on horseback riding left, spearing enemy beneath. Nice one, Martin. Im eyeing another one of him as Aug. too but its over $100 so its a wait. Your new one sure makes him look OLD though. Probably the wear? And steve, the reverse on yours is very nice, dont see it often either.
Great coins, Mat, and everyone! I'm looking to add a denarius of Geta to my collection this year, and seeing all of your examples is inspiring.
