This poor baby is hairlined, but I feel like I stole it for $875!

 

If your feeling bad about it, I'll give you $900.00 for it to help clear up your conscience..

 

This is from my type set. It may be a problem to others but not to me. I think I'll keep it.

 

I got a nice half cent that looks to have EF-details for only $13, the part of the edge of smashed. Also, Poor photos made the coin look worse than it does in hand. There is also some light surface corrosion but it's very minimum, in general, it's a nice coin.

 

Still one of my favorites. I've always imagined a confederate soldier, loved one, or sympathizer wearing this around their neck during the civil war. I'd like to think there's history to go with that hole. And it was fun narrowing it down to the die marriage.

 

Here is the half cent I got for $13.50.

Looks like a cast coin. Is it copper?

 

It looks like a real half cent to me, it is copper just very pitted due to corrosion. Probably a metal detecting find.

It looks just like some of the large cents I have found metal detecting.

Definitely, definitely, corroded!!

maybe, maybe even found metal detecting....

 

Purchased this large cent thirty years ago for a hundred dollars. Poor storage over the years has taken a toll.

 

And what's the "problem" with this coin? Looks great, to non-expert me.

Corrosion. Look closely. In the ear, etc.

 

I'm used to settling for coins with much more obvious rot than that!

 

I agree, that is nothing compared to some of the stuff I'm fine with buying.

I bet that acetone could fix it.
