I got this coin from a dealer friend of mine today to scope out and see what's going on. I'm not 100% on this coin ,however... I am seeing some PUP's that lead me to believe this one may be close or a different die stage of the FEC #2 Any and all comments are welcome ,and thanks for your input in advance.
Now here's one other image to look over as I went to NGC to look at their images. The word states is the same on this coin as it is on the NGC image. Look at the S top serif looks to be doubled I'm thinking die chips. Just noticed at the NGC site it's referred as an S-15 again these are not in my wheelhouse .
Most definitely a DDO--but it's not S-2, which has a broken wing tip and type of 1856 obverse. I'll do more digging... Update--found it! It's the Snow-18. What made it easy was the tell-tale matching rim cud above the S in STATES. You can also see the doubling matching on the ES (white arrows). Snow says "Proof die that was later used for regular production. Compare with PR3 (obverse).
