I picked up this little coin a little bit back, I didn't pay too much because I had almost no info on it. I believe it's medieval because of it being hammered and almost paper thin. I believe it to be french only because it has crowns and fleur de lis on the back. Hopefully some one of you all would know more
Yes I do, I tried to do it from my phone but it wasn't working. Here they are. Its roughly the same size as a US quarter
I'm no expert on this, so i wouldnt be able to tell you. But someone should be able to help. Just good to have pics.
Thank you, if someone does know or thinks they do I can always provide more pics no problem. I'm just curious as hell to know what it is
It's a Nuremberg jeton from one of the 3 Hans Shultes. I believe this is Hans Shultes I, which puts it from 1553 to 1584. These are pretty common in rough shape.
Here is a useful site on these: http://www.mernick.org.uk/bexley/article3.htm hard to find biographical info in English. As far as value, in that condition under $10.
The reverse with HANS SCHVLTES GKXNI is reported in Stalzer nr. 561, with two different obverses (561 and 564). This is a new variation - Hans Schultes made many jetons of this kind . (Stalzer = Kataloge der Staatliche Münzsammlung München, Band 1: Nürnberg)
