Just got this 1937 D Buffalo today. It's an DDD however I can't find the correct Variety Listing. The color image is the coin in question. the B& W images are the known varieties.
    Any thoughts on new references?

Paddy, if i recall correctly I thought it resembled 004. The thing was, the given die markers didnt really match. Were you gonna send this to Mr Wiles? Or are you debating it now?

Not sure yet. As I'm debating if it's an DD 008 East it's very close but,I'm seeing DDD. I also have tired eyes.

I just noticed something, if u look at the spaces between MM and the E and C. Yours differs from the ones posted. Its closest to the last one BUT the space between the C and the MM are actually different with yours being a tad closer to the C. Atleast to my eyes anyway.

I can think of atleast 5 punch lines right now....if only this wasnt a family values oriented site......

OK here's is my argument for an DDD, if you look east there are two underlying D's ,inside the D there's a split line that line is solid then splits, outside west are what looks to me like another back side of a D. Due North there's something maybe a chip or the top or the 3rd D .

What makes you so certain thats not an S in the opening?? You can still see it plain as day in your image.

From the original images I thought so. Now using the scope @ 200 % no there's no S! The slab has some heavy scratches . I'll use some cleaner to buff them . And re shoot. The cloudless is the scratches. @200%.
This coin is very pleasing the tone and color. It has promise so we will find out what's going on one way or another .

I'm between the DDD RPM 005 S & SE or the DD 008. I will send it in to Wiles, and get his take on this one. As it may be a new variety of either .

Nice one! To my eyes it looks closest to #4...mm position seems similar too. But I'm not seeing all the markers, I bet. :)
