coinscards 127.JPG coinscards 131.JPG Hello I ran across this old nickel as I was sorting a box of junk coins that have not been touched in nearly 50 years.I started learning about variety Lincoln cents and collecting them. When I noticed the date on this V nickel,I thought I would get some advice or opinions on this coin. Question is Mint error or damage caused after Mint?

I don't see anything out of the ordinary on the date. And if there was it would not be an Error but most likely a Variety :bookworm:

Looks like the top of the 8 took a hit. If thats what youre referring to than I would say PMD (post mint damage)

Back then the digits were hand punched on the date, so the alignment varied from die to die. So I'm thinking this was normal back then. No damage or mint error.

There is something between the 8 & 6. Is that a clash? Photo is a little blurry.

It's tooled. 1885 &1886 are key dates to the series. It's not real. Sorry bout that.
